Wizards of the Coast has signed an agreement with Daybreak Games to publish and provide live service support for Magic: The Gathering online.
In a statement announcing the deal, Daybreak Games CEO Ji Ham said, “We are delighted to be partnering with Wizards of the Coast on another venture and adding Magic: The Gathering Online among our portfolio of iconic multiplayer games”. Additionally, he expanded on this and said that the game, which was first launched in 2002, will not only receive support from Daybreak, but that they plan to “invest and improve further” experience. Chris Cox, president of Wizards of the Coast noted that Magic: The Gathering Online is their first time digital game release almost 20 years ago. “We are confident that Daybreak Games will continue to build on what we have started, spreading Magic Online and bring fans and players around the globe closer together,” he said in announcing the deal. Although there have been subsequent releases in the digital space since MtG: Oof the original release, the game continues to feature a community for digital table-collected card-based gameplay.
